Idaho entered the union as 43rd state on 3rd July 1890. Idaho's constitution, which was adopted in 1889, became effective in 1890 upon statehood
[1]. Idaho is a Republican state with three distinct branches that are as follows: the Executive branch (Governor of Alaska and state agencies), the Legislative branch (the House of Representatives and the Senate) and the Judicial branch (Supreme Court and lower courts). The state's chief executive is a governor who holds a term of four years after winning election.
Idaho Executive Branch
The Executive branch comprises of seven elected officers and their various departments. The seven elected officers are Governor, Lieutenant Governor, Attorney General, Secretary of State, State controller, Treasurer and Superintendent of public instructions. The various departments include Department of Administration, Department of Agriculture, Department of Commerce, Department of Water Resources, Department of Correction, Department of Labor, Office of the State Board of Education, Department of Finance, Fish and Game Department , Health and Welfare Department, Department of Insurance, Department of Juvenile Corrections, Idaho State Police, Department of Self-Governing Agencies, Idaho State Tax Commission, Department of Transportation, Department of Parks & Recreation, Department of Lands and Department of Environmental Quality.
Governor of IdahoThe Governor of the State of Idaho is the head of the executive branch of Idaho Government. The governor is elected every four years by a plurality. There is no limit to the number of terms that can be served

Lieutenant Governor acts as Governor when the Governor is out of the state. In addition, the Lieutenant performs duties, which the governor may consider necessary for the good of the state, which includes serving as the Governor's chief appointment officer and commissions and councils. Idaho Legislative Branch
The Idaho State Legislative branch comprises of two senates: the upper Idaho State Senate and the lower Idaho House of Representatives. The Idaho Senate has 35 members
representing each district. The Idaho House of Representatives consists of 70 members who serves two-year terms and two representatives are nominated from each districts. The legislature meets in the Idaho State Capitol, which is located in Boise.
House of Representatives- The lower chamber of the Idaho State Legislature is the Idaho House of
Representatives. It consists of 70 members who serves two-year terms. The schedule of the House is 11:00 o'clock in the forenoon and Speaker takes the Chair at the time to which the House stands adjourned. View the list of members

Senate- The upper house in the Idaho Legislature is the Idaho State Senate and
it meets at the State Capitol based in Boise. It has 35 members
representing each district. The senators serve two-year terms and are

The Idaho judiciary consists of three levels of courts: the Trial Courts which is known as “District Courts” and include the Magistrate Division, the Court of Appeals and the highest court in the State which is known as ‘’Supreme Court’’.
Idaho Supreme CourtThe court system of Idaho is efficiently managed by the Idaho Supreme Court. The court is responsible to make effective rules and policies for the appropriate working of the entire court system. The Chief Justice and four Associate Justices makes the final decisions in the matter of the District Court. The Supreme Court take appeals from decisions of the district courts as well as from the Industrial Commission and of the Public Utilities Commission. It has main authority to take cases against the state and to issue writs of mandamus, review, habeas corpus and prohibition.There are five justices at present. Idaho Court of AppealsThe court comprises of a Chief Judge and three Associate Judges. The Court of Appeals take cases allotted to it by the Idaho Supreme Court. District Courts The state of Idaho consists of seven judicial districts and Administrative District Judge hears the cases. In district Court, Judges are selected by the other district judges in the district and a Trial Court Administrator (TCA). District courts and district court judges takes cases over civil and criminal cases. District Judges also reviews cases from the Magistrate Division. In the District Courts, judges handles serious criminal cases which are punishable by a fine or by the death penalty, as well as civil cases when the money amount involved is over certain amount.

- Seventh Judicial District: Bingham,Teton, Jefferson, Custer, Clark, Bonneville, Butte, Fremont, LemhiMadison
Magistrate DivisionEvery county has one Magistrate Judge and for larger county there are more than one Magistrate Judge to hear cases in timely manner. Magistrate judges handle all original small claims disputes. These courts handles civil as well as criminal cases. Criminal cases which are punishable by a fine or imprisonment in the county jail and civil cases where the amount of money is less than a specified amount. Most often cases are of traffic citations.
